Rahm Emmanuel, Obama’s former White House chief of staff and now mayor of Chicago has struggled to bring the homicide rate down. Gang violence is especially prevalent. Recently President Obama went to Chicago to address the issue of gun violence.

Some of the things not mentioned by Obama during his address:
- DEA officials met with leaders of the Sinaloa cartel more than 50 times between 2000 and 2012
- The Sinaloa cartel is estimated to be responsible for 80 percent of the cocaine coming into the country through Chicago.
- Much of the gun violence is gang related and the gangs are the main movers of the drugs.
- The Chicago police department operates an off-the-books interrogation compound comparable to a CIA black site.
- The DEA Special Operations Division, or SOD funnels information from various intelligence sources to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans. SOD then trains federal agents to "recreate" the investigative trail to effectively cover up where the information originated interfering with a defendant's Constitutional right to a fair trial.
The DEA one of the largest cocaine suppliers in the country
An investigation conducted in Mexico found the American government allowed that country's largest drug cartel, Sinaloa, to operate without fear of persecution. That group is estimated to be responsible for 80 percent of the cocaine coming into the country through Chicago. In exchange, the leaders of Sinaloa provided the DEA information on rival gangs.
The drug cartel working with the federal government is run by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman. He is considered to be the world's most powerful drug trafficker. In addition to Chicago, his group also maintains cocaine operations in several major cities around the country.
Written statements were provided to a U.S. District Court in Chicago, confirming the alliance between the DEA and Mexico's largest cocaine cartel. The written testimony, combined with other evidence, shows DEA officials met with leaders of the Sinaloa cartel more than 50 times between 2000 and 2012. This would mean DEA-authorized drug smuggling goes back to at least the beginning of the George W. Bush administration, and continued for years under Barack Obama.
Chicago Police Department Black Site
The Chicago police department operates an off-the-books interrogation compound, rendering Americans unable to be found by family or attorneys while locked inside what lawyers say is the domestic equivalent of a CIA black site.
The facility, a nondescript warehouse on Chicago’s west side known as Homan Square, has long been the scene of secretive work by special police units. Interviews with local attorneys and one protester who spent the better part of a day shackled in Homan Square describe operations that deny access to basic constitutional rights.
• Keeping arrestees out of official booking databases.
• Beating by police, resulting in head wounds.
• Shackling for prolonged periods.
• Denying attorneys access to the “secure” facility.
• Holding people without legal counsel for between 12 and 24 hours, including people as young as 15.
At least one man was found unresponsive in a Homan Square “interview room” and later pronounced dead.
Unlike a precinct, no one taken to Homan Square is said to be booked. Witnesses, suspects or other Chicagoans who end up inside do not appear to have a public, searchable record entered into a database indicating where they are, as happens when someone is booked at a precinct. Lawyers and relatives insist there is no way of finding their whereabouts. Those lawyers who have attempted to gain access to Homan Square are most often turned away, even as their clients remain in custody inside.
The DEA Subverting the Criminal Justice System
A secretive U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration unit is funneling information from intelligence intercepts, wiretaps, informants and a massive database of telephone records to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans.
The undated documents show that federal agents are trained to "recreate" the investigative trail to effectively cover up where the information originated, a practice that some experts say violates a defendant's Constitutional right to a fair trial. If defendants don't know how an investigation began, they cannot know to ask to review potential sources of exculpatory evidence - information that could reveal entrapment, mistakes or biased witnesses.
The unit of the DEA that distributes the information is called the Special Operations Division, or SOD. Two dozen partner agencies comprise the unit, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security. It was created in 1994 to combat Latin American drug cartels and has grown from several dozen employees to several hundred.
So, the government supplies the drugs to the gangs, the gangs use violence to control the supply. The DEA supplies intel to thepolice. The Chicago PD runs a "black site" to interrogate suspected criminals. The DEA trains federal agents how to back the evidence untraceable before use in trials.
That is your war on drugs.
And if it can happen in Chicago, it can happen anywhere.
